{"id":4404,"date":"2021-03-24T12:39:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-24T19:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/lewis\/?page_id=4404"},"modified":"2021-03-24T12:39:00","modified_gmt":"2021-03-24T19:39:00","slug":"master-gardener-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/lewis\/master-gardener-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Master Gardener Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"cpb-row  pad-bottom gutter single\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-row-inner\"><div class=\"cpb-column  one\" style=\"\"><div class=\"cpb-textblock cpb-item \"><p><div class=\"cpb-textblock cpb-item \"><p><\/p><\/div>\nWSU Master Gardeners are dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the mission of the WSU Master Gardener program to deliver science-based information to Washington State communities that helps to conserve and enhance our natural resources while improving the quality of life and wellbeing of Washington State residents.<\/p>\n<p>WSU Master Gardeners spend over 100 hours in training and give back a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service to become certified Master Gardener Volunteer Educators. Once certified, Veteran Master Gardeners continue their education and their volunteer service to their communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe WSU Extension Master Gardener program grew out of the need for Washington State County Extension agents to respond to the growing interest in home gardening over 45 years ago,\u201d the founders of the WSU Master Gardener Program recall in their\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mastergardener.wsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/History-of-early-MG-Program-011618.pdf\">short history<\/a>\u00a0of the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the purpose of the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program remains much the same.
