Got Giant Hogweed?

Posted by cahnrs.webteam | April 29, 2019

The following letter has been mailed out to property owners in Mason County. We would like to assist with control and eradication of giant hogweed on your property, call (360)427-9670 ext. 592 or email at patriciag@co.mason.wa.us.

Dear Property Owner,

In 2006, there were fewer than 20 known sites of giant hogweed in Mason County.  A majority of these were found along Highway 101 and in the community of Hoodsport.  Since that time, our list of sites has increased to nearly 100.  I know that many of these have been eradicated.

This year, we received funding from the Washington State Department of Agriculture to visit all of our giant hogweed sites, past and present.  If this noxious weed has been eradicated on your property, we will document this.  If not, we would like to assist you with control and eradication.

We plan to make these visits during the month of May.  If you would like additional information, please give us a call at (360)427-9670 ext. 592 or email at patriciag@co.mason.wa.us.

I look forward to measuring our county’s progress towards the eradication of giant hogweed.

Sincerely,

Patricia Grover,
Coordinator, Mason County Noxious Weed Control Board
