Noxious Weeds

“Weedy” Native Plants
Noxious weeds are never plants native to this region. Some native plants are considered “weedy” because they can colonize disturbed sites or they spread aggressively. Some native plants pose health risks to humans and livestock. For these reasons, MCNWCB educates the public on the below selected native plants.
Weeds of Concern
There are numerous plants that the public considers weedy, especially in garden environments, that are not considered noxious weeds. There are also some plants that are on the WA State Noxious Weed Control Boards Monitor List. Monitor list plants are suspect weeds that are monitored for occurrence and spread. Noxious weed control programs are allowed to educate and encourage control of these species. Below are selected Weeds of Concern in Mason County.
