At any time during the process, you can contact your local 4-H Coordinator for guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Get Started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/07\/Clover-1-e1722289454838.png\" alt=\"Illustration representing the first step in starting a new 4-H club\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You need:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Five or more youth, ages 5\u201318 as of October 1, for the current 4-H program year, which runs from October 1 through September 30.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least one interested adult to help run the club.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ideas for having fun and learning skills that youth can use throughout their lives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Discuss your needs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talk about the idea with the youth who are interested. Start with something simple that they would like to learn about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideas could include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Caring for a family pet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starting a leaf collection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooking snacks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Making a decoration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Get Oriented<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/07\/Clover-2-e1722289584807.png\" alt=\"Illustration representing the second step in starting a new 4-H club\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact the 4-H Office at <a href=\"tel:3604279670ext.681\">360-427-9670 ext. 681<\/a> to schedule a 4-H Club Leader Orientation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the orientation, we will help you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Advertise for members using the open clubs link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan an orientation session for prospective 4-H members and parents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understand the roles and responsibilities of volunteers and club leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set goals for your first year and decide how to reach them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Celebrate your success as your 4-H members have fun and learn new skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Get Help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/07\/Clover-3-e1722289549180.png\" alt=\"Illustration representing the third step in starting a new 4-H club\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Building a successful 4-H club takes a team. Ask adults and older teens to help with club activities and projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personally ask people to take active roles in your club. Consider recruiting parents, other adults, and older teens in the community as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Project leaders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activity leaders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resource leaders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Get Busy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/07\/Clover-4-e1722289484697.png\" alt=\"Illustration representing the fourth step in starting a new 4-H club\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your club is ready to get started:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Complete enrollment forms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with your new group to decide meeting dates and times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan a calendar for your first year&#8217;s program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decide what you want to accomplish.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss club ground rules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage members to select a club name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up project groups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elect club officers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ready to Get Started?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting a 4-H club is a great way to bring youth together to learn, lead, and build new skills.
