Kathy Olmstead Memorial Award

The Kathy Olmstead Memorial Award is in honor of Kathy Olmstead to recognize youth who show excellence in 4-H.  It will be announced at the annual Awards Banquet, which is October 12, 2019.

Order 4-H Project and Year Pins Now

The 4-H Leader Council will be purchasing and presenting year and project pins to youth and Leaders at the 4-H Recognition Ceremony in October. Please use the attached forms to request types and numbers of pins for your 4-H club. Did You Know: Vaping is Not Allowed During 4-H Activities?

Just a reminder: the use of tobacco products (including vapor products, or e-cigarettes) is not allowed during 4-H activities, per the Youth Code of Conduct and the Adult Valuable Partnership Agreement. You can find those documents in 4HOnline under the “Authorizations” tab.

4-H Summer Youth Horse Camp

Klickitat County is hosting a summer youth horse camp, July 7-10. Horse Camp is open to all youth (with their horse) who are 8 years old by October 1, 2018. The purpose of Horse Camp is to prepare youth for showing in their county and state 4-H fairs and improving horsemanship skills and knowledge. Riders will have three riding classes each day.

$150 – 3 riding classes and showmanship class
***Leaders can ride for $75 if space permits***

NOTE:  There must be an “on site” responsible adult in charge of each participating youth. Horse Camp begins at 6am for stall cleaning and breakfast each morning and ends at 8pm each day.

Whitman County 4-H Horse Show

Whitman County is holding a 4-H horse show at Palouse Empire Fairgrounds on July 13, 2019.  Participants from other counties who are enrolled in 4-H are welcome!  Registration/check-in opens at 7:00 am with classes beginning at 8:00 am.  Performance classes with be held in the morning and games classes in the afternoon.  Rosettes (along with Danish ribbons) to 5th and highpoint awards for each age category.  Please follow the link for more information and the registration packet.    https://extension.wsu.edu/whitman/event/whitman-county-4-h-horse-qualifying-show/


Save the Date – Eastern Washington Teen Rally

We know you’re already making plans for fall, and want to be sure you’ve got the Eastern Washington 4-H Teen Rally in your calendar! Save the date for November 1- 3, 2019 at Camp Ghormley in Naches, WA. More details about registration available in late July. 4-H Leader Council

Please join us for the next Leader Council meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Extension Office, 227 S Garden Ave., Newport.  Those who are not available to attend in person will be able to participate in the meeting via Zoom!
