PREPARE FOR NEW ANTIBIOTIC REGULATIONS

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released new antibiotic regulations that affect all U.S. poultry and livestock producers, including youth exhibitors. The National Pork Board is urging all its stakeholders to get ready now, before the new regulations go into effect on January 1, 2017.

The Pork Board has introduced the USCARE checklist, that offers six key steps for producers and exhibitors to prepare for these regulatory changes. For additional information, visit www.pork.org/antibiotics.

Research in Alaska

Mike Jensen will be traveling to Alaska to conduct research on Preparing Youth Camps for Wildland Fire in 2016.  Mike will not be at the Leader Council meeting due to his travels.   Please join us for the webinar listed above.   The early indication is that this will be another bad wildland fire season.   Please help us get the word out about this webinar.  Registration is required.

Life Scout:

I am in Troop 288 in Colbert.  I am a Life Scout about to get my Eagle Scout.  I believe the 4-H Extension Office was in need of new picnic tables at 4-H Super Saturday.  I earned the money for my project by flower sales, rummage sales, and selling Christmas wreaths; also, through donations from an anonymous donor.  I enjoyed making these because my three years of 4-H has taught me that community efforts are essential, and I wanted to give back.  I hope my tables will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Thank you Evan, your dad and sister, and Scouts!  Everyone should check out the great picnic tables in front of the Extension Office.
