Train Robberies June 22-23

Thank you to Country Pride and Pend Oreille Union for signing up this month to partner with the Newport, Priest River Rotary, S.P.O.R.T. event. This event has helped Leader Council support the scholarships for memberships fees, Teen Rally, Teen Summit, conduct Super Saturday and other expenses. We appreciate all who volunteer. They not only help serve Pend Oreille 4-H but serve the community, as the train brings in many tourists to promote the economy. https://sporttrainrides.com

Fair Clean-Up & Lunch

The Pend Oreille 4-H clubs host a lunch to all the volunteers that come this weekend to help. We are continuing with the spaghetti lunch. Additionally, we need volunteers to help clean-up the fairgrounds before fair. This includes painting, cleaning, grounds work, working in the barns that youth will be participating in and decorating. Please bring additional items to help: tools, shovels, rakes, cleaning supplies, and anything else which may be needed.

4-H Fair Barn Help

We need people to help sign in kids’ projects and to help the judges on Thursday, either by taking notes or collecting projects and placing ribbons on them. Can be rotating shifts, however, many people are needed. During early morning Wednesday, could use less people but if you have some time please check in.  The evening will be the rush time.

The back gate will need two volunteers per shift and one must be an adult.


4-H Leader Council

Please join us for the next Leader Council meeting to take place on Thursday, June 20, at the WSU Extension Office.  Location:  227 S Garden Ave, Newport.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.


4-H Dog Fun Show – June 29

Panorama 4-Paws 4-H club is hosting a Dog Fun Show on Saturday, June 29 at the NE WA Fairgrounds in Colville. Show starts at 9am and includes obedience, agility, and showmanship classes. Bring your lunch and a lawn chair. Drinks will be provided.


Northwest Native Youth Food Sovereignty Summit – July

Please help us get the word out about this event. It should be fun and educational, as we will be touring different parts of the Colville Reservation and hearing from a variety of presenters about Agriculture and Natural Resources.  The deadline for registration is June 15. There are travel scholarships available but the registration applications must be in before June 15 so that they may be approved and accepted, in order for the youth to be eligible.  Please click here for additional information:  Northwest Save the Date


Washington State Junior Horse Show and Pre-Show Clinics

Join us in Yakima for the Washington State Junior Horse Show and Pre-Show clinics on June 27-30.

The event is open to all 4-H and Open Class exhibitors statewide. Cloverbuds may participate in Judging Tour, Record Book, and Public Presentations.

Global Citizenship Lesson Plan #3

To assist you in working with your 4-H youth to learn global citizenship skills we are creating a series of five Global Citizenship Lesson Plans. The third lesson of the series, titled “A Day in the Life” is available now on the 4-H website at https://extension.wsu.edu/4h/youth/global-4-h/.

The Global Citizenship Lessons Plans:

  • Can be used by any club or group regardless of project area to learn global citizenship skills and to learn about Burundi.
  • Are only 15 – 30 minutes long so can be easily incorporated during a club business meeting
  • Are fun and interactive
  • Are for all 4-H youth from 8 – 19
  • Are customizable and Include optional ideas for extension
