4-H Scholarship/Enrollment Reminders

4-H Online Enrollment for the 2019/2020 4-H year is now open AND the Returning Family Scholarship Deadline is approaching.  Full and partial scholarships are available to cover the $25 membership fee.  All members receiving scholarships will be asked to help with a fundraiser during the year.

In order to receive a scholarship, returning members must enroll and apply for scholarships by December 31st by submitting a completed application to your club leader. New members wanting a scholarship have until April 15th to enroll and apply for the scholarship.  Any youth may enroll at any time during the year.  The deadlines only apply to those requesting scholarships.   Additionally, all youth who want to show under the 4-H banner at the Fair must enroll by April 15th.  After April 15th, youth may exhibit in the Open Class at Fair.  Find the updated scholarship application here:  Scholarship Appl

Note:  Adult volunteers are not protected by the University if they are not enrolled in 4HOnline, and youth who are not enrolled are not covered by the insurance.

Know Your Local Government

The next Know Your Local Government (KYLG) meeting is on December 15th from 1-5 PM at the WSU POC Extension Office.  A potluck lunch will be provided, and all are asked to attend in person, if possible.  A Zoom link will be sent out for those who need to connect remotely.  For more information please contact Vickie Blanchet at: 509-671-2428 or by email at schoolontheroad@gmail.com

Will Your Club Require a Plant Sale Permit?

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) requires most retail nurseries to have a license to sell plant materials in WA. However, there are exemptions available for certain groups…including Master Gardeners and 4-H Clubs…if they meet the criteria listed in the RCW mentioned in the flyer attached, (RCW 15.13.270.)  A plant sale permit is still required, EVEN IF THE GROUP IS EXEMPT from the licensing requirement.  Click here for more information:  RCW

4-H Club Financials – Due ASAP

If your Club hasn’t submitted its Financials to the County Extension Office, which were due December 1, please contact Beverly at the office and let her know your status.  The Financials include your club’s audit report, annual financial summary, and property inventory list.  Beverly can be reached at:  509-447-2401, or via email at:  beverly.sarles@wsu.edu

Thank you.
