We understand how busy everyone is and we are trying to make the time slots as painless as possible. These are not only fundraisers, this helps keep our Fair operational.\u00a0\u00a0Volunteers play a vital role in making sure the Fair is a success. Leader Council wants to make sure clubs understand how valuable they are through the Leadership Participation Points Program (LPPP).\u00a0 Points will be awarded to clubs for each shift they volunteer for. These points will later be awarded through monetary means for the club. We appreciate your time and effort.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>4-H Barn Decorations<\/h3>\n<p>This year we are making a barn quilt. We are requesting a head-shot, (3&#8243; x 3&#8243;), that can be attached to a star that has been purchased by Leader Council. These can be collected during Fair entry day.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>New Team Project to Create a Scarecrow<\/h3>\n<p>These will be displayed outside the Ag building.\u00a0 Please refer to the fair book for more information:<\/p>\n<p>DIVISION 2016. Scarecrow. \u00a0This is a team entry by no fewer than 3 individuals (if a youth entry, one may be an adult.) Names and exhibitor numbers of all team members will receive a ribbon for their entry and, the Fair attendees will be able to vote for their favorite scarecrow. The scarecrow with the largest number of votes by Sunday at 3:30pm, will win a special prize. No individual monetary premiums will be awarded in this division.\u00a0 Scarecrow figure must be stuffed with natural materials only. (Examples: straw, hay, dried grass, sawdust, wood shavings, leaves, dried moss, newspaper, etc.)\u00a0 Scarecrow figure must be firmly attached to a support device such as a pole, stand, or chair for upright display. Class No.1.Traditional: Male or female figure wearing traditional farm, country or western clothing (including footwear) 2.Exotic: Male or female figure wearing any costume you think would scare the varmints out of the garden (Example: Alien, Rockstar, Caveman\/woman, Hula dancer, Scuba Diver&#8230;use your imagination!)\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.wixstatic.com\/ugd\/fb71d2_fb4d721b021a4c6891c4cbd5be901314.pdf\">https:\/\/docs.wixstatic.com\/ugd\/fb71d2_fb4d721b021a4c6891c4cbd5be901314.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Fashion Revue update &#8211; submitted by Heidi Vaughn<\/h3>\n<p>4-H Fashion Revue was held July 18, 2019 at the Inland Grange. There were 8 contestants! 5 Seniors, 2 Intermediate and 1 Junior.\u00a0 I hope you come and see their outfits at Fair, as they are amazing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3290\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/59\/2019\/08\/Fashion-Revue-396x264.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Log Your Volunteer Hours at the Fair<\/h3>\n<p>Have you logged all your 4-H adult volunteer hours onto the WSU Volunteer database? If not, you will have the opportunity to access the Volunteer database at the 4-H Barn at the Fairgrounds during the Fair on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 16, 17 and 18. A laptop will be provided and assistance will be available to help you log in and list your 2019 hours.\u00a0<strong>Bring your calendars with dates and times that you have volunteered, and we will help you get that information into the WSU site.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>After Fair Party<\/h3>\n<p>Pend Oreille Union 4-H is working to set-up an After Fair party at the Newport Park; potluck, games, etc. More information to come. Save the date: August 25, 2019!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Next 4-H Leader Council Meeting &#8211; Thursday, September 19<\/h3>\n<p>The meeting will take place at the WSU\/Pend Oreille County Extension Office, 227-A South Garden Avenue, Newport WA 99156.\u00a0 The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Donations Needed for State 4-H Horse Exhibit Medals<\/h3>\n<p>Donations are needed to provide the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals for the 2019 State 4-H Horse Exhibit. Please spread the word\u2026County Programs, individuals or business donations are very welcome!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Election Forms for the Washington 4-H State Advisory Board Due September 1<\/h3>\n<p>The Washington 4-H State Advisory Board is a leadership opportunity for Teens and Adults that are enrolled leaders of their county program. We currently have 10 active youth members and are looking for more. We meet over zoom videoconferencing and connect with youth around the state online through SLACK. We are also planning some in person meetings and events. Our primary focus right now is LGBTQ+ equity and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the projects we are currently working on include planning a workshop for state leaders forum and organizing a one day symposium on how to support diversity and inclusion in 4-H. We also have a delegation of youth attending the Ohio Diversity Dialogue in October. We have so much we are working to accomplish and we would love your help.
