About the Garden

The Gig Harbor Children’s Garden is located at the Gig Harbor Demonstration Garden, inside Sehmel Homestead Park (10123 78th Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98332).


2024 Spring & Summer Events

Free Children’s Gardening Workshops in Gig Harbor!

  • Each workshop is limited to 21 children. Participants must be pre-registered.
  • Ages 5-11
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult for the full workshop.
  • Registration for each workshop will be open 30 days prior to the event.

Ready Set Grow

Saturday, May 18th, 10:30am-12pm

Children will participate in composting, creating a container garden, and will learn basic plant care.


Fairies & Gnomes

Saturday, June 15th, 10:30am-12pm

Children will design and plant their own miniature fantasy garden.


Flowers & Pollinators

Saturday, July 20th, 10:30am-12pm

Children will learn about flower parts and common pollinators.


Fall Harvest & Scarecrows

Saturday, September 20th, 10:30am-12pm

Children will make their own scarecrow and harvest fall vegetables from the garden.
