Ella Amore Mahoney believed in the Pierce County 4\u2011H Dog Project and the powerful life skills it builds in young people\u2014responsibility, leadership, teamwork, communication, goal setting, service learning, management, initiative, self\u2011discipline, decision making, and strong dog\u2011handling skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To honor Ella\u2019s legacy, we proudly recognize the youth who have dedicated themselves to working with their dogs through 4\u2011H and who embody the values she championed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pierce County 4\u2011H Dog Project, in memory of Ella Amore Mahoney, offers a $1000 scholarship to a 4\u2011H high school junior or senior pursuing education beyond high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Questions answers – inadequate proofing and grammatical errors may result in a deduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A check payable to the institute of higher learning will be sent upon proof of enrollment at said institution. Seniors at time of issue have 1 year to claim their scholarships, juniors at time of issue 2 years. Unclaimed scholarship funds will revert to the Ella Amore Mahoney Scholarship Fund administered by the Pierce County 4-H Dog Project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Juniors in high school may apply again their senior year, if they were not selected the first time. No one can receive the scholarship twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 4-H Dog Project Scholarship Selection Committee and\/or the Mahoney Family reserves the right to suspend the awarding of the scholarship in any given year if no applicant meets the stated criteria or if, in the opinion of the Pierce County Dog Project Council, awarding the scholarship would not be in the best interest of the Dog Project, Pierce County 4-H or Washington State 4-H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Applications must be completed and submitted by June 26. (The 4th Friday in June)<\/p>\n\n\n
