Volunteers are the core of delivering 4-H Youth Development. Volunteers support the 4-H\u2019s mission of teaching others and enhancing personal growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4-H members are helped by adult volunteer leaders. Every 4-H club has one or more adult leaders. These volunteer leaders:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Help teach boys and girls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help organize the club.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help officers and assist at meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform parents about 4-H.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">There are different Types of 4-H leaders:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Club Volunteer<\/strong>:&nbsp; This person works at the Club Level and includes the following but does not have the option of enrolling in a project.&nbsp; <strong>A club volunteer who also volunteers in a project should also enroll as Project Volunteer.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>General Club Leader<\/strong>: The main club leader and organizer who works with general club meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Club Activity Leader<\/strong>:&nbsp; Responsible for one or more activities. Helps with activities and events or helps members with their project work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H Volunteers are valued by WSU Extension and the 4-H Youth Development Program. 4-H volunteers and extension staff work together as a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do I Become A 4-H Leader?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Call the 4-H office at your WSU Pierce County Extension office if you would like to start your own club. We will arrange an orientation meeting explaining 4-H guidelines and will give you the materials and publications needed for your new club.&nbsp; More details for <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/pierce\/4-h\/start-a-club\">starting a new club<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Process:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/4h\/4-h-volunteer-application\/\">4-H Youth Development Volunteer Application<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You&nbsp;will be screened by national background check database to work with 4-H youth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You must complete <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.extension.org\/login\/index.php\">Online Training<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/4h\/for-volunteers\/volunteer-training\">.<\/a><br> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8211; Put The Child First Training (enrollment key = PIERCE4H)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8211; Washington State 4-H Volunteer Orientation (enrollment key = PIERCE)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8211; Washington State 4-H Finance Management (enrollment key = PIERCE)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8211; WSU Safety of Minors (enrollment key = EP14PI4H)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>After being accepted by a Club On-line enrollment can done at <a href=\"https:\/\/v2.4honline.com\">4honline. <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/4h\/resources\/4-h-online-enrollment-guide\/\">(Enrollment guides)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All adult leaders are required to attend Volunteer Leader Training by a 4-H agent.
