SUMMARY:Meet Your Livestock Specialist: Winter Nutrition and Feeding Needs
DESCRIPTION:Meet Your Livestock Specialist (Virtual Event!) \nTopic: Winter nutrition and feeding needs \nJoin us for a special virtual “Meet your Livestock Specialist” event for Clallam\, Jefferson and Kitsap farmers. This event will allow farmers to meet and ask questions of Dan McCarty\, our Regional Livestock Specialist. There will be two sessions in November offering discussions specifically around Winter nutrition and feeding needs. Dan will give a basic overview of the dietary needs of livestock\, common strategies for winter feeding\, and then answer questions from our farmer audience. This is a free virtual event. Come get to know your regional livestock specialist! \nDates: Two date options to join us! Come to one or both. There will be interactive discussion with Dan answering your questions about livestock Winter nutrition and feeding needs. \n\nMonday\, November 7th\, 3:30pm – 5pm\nWednesday\, November 16th\, 3:30pm – 5pm\n\nLocation: Online Zoom Event\nAudience: Farmers\, homesteaders\, 4H’ers – anyone with livestock winter feeding questions!\nRegistration: This is a free online event. If you would like to get updates on these events\, please sign up for our Regional Small Farms Newsletter. \nMore about Dan McCarty: \nDan graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Idaho\, focusing on Animal Science\, Plant Science\, Soil Science and Agricultural Education.  After college\, Dan worked as a 4-H Program Assistant in Latah County\, Idaho and Lane County\, Oregon.  Most recently\, he worked as the 4-H Program Coordinator for Island County.  He also worked for a Conservation District in Oregon\, Idaho and Washington State Departments of Agriculture\, and Klickitat and Skagit Counties helping landowners install and implement Best Management Practices to protect natural resources. Dan now serves as the WSU Regional Livestock Specialist for Clallam\, Jefferson and Kitsap Counties. \n———— \nWSU Extension programs and employment are available to all without discrimination.
