Whether you’re new to fiber animals or a seasoned shepherd\, this interactive class is packed with practical skills and expert tips to elevate your fleece game. \nWhat you’ll learn: \n\nFleece prep for the mill\nGet hands-on with real fleeces and learn the art of skirting: what to keep\, what to toss\, and how to make your fleece mill-ready.\nLive shearing demonstration\nWatch experienced local shearer Elizabeth Resager in action! Learn about pre-shearing prep\, animal handling\, and best practices for a smooth shearing day.\nHoof trimming basics\nSee a live demo on proper hoof care to keep your animals healthy and happy.\nParasite check & treatment tips\nLearn how to spot and treat topical parasites during shearing season.\nQ&A session\nBring your questions! SUMMARY:Living on the Land Workshops: Composting at Any Scale- From Balconies to Small Farms
DESCRIPTION:Join WSU Regional Small Farms for Composting at Any Scale: From Balconies to Small Farms. This workshop will take place at the Poulsbo branch of the Kitsap Regional Library. Learn from a local farmer on how to start a composting system scaled to your needs. Benji Astrachan from WSU Clallam Extension will first teach participants about how to begin composting\, including necessary ingredients and common mistakes\, and how to build a composting system that works for your space\, be it an apartment balcony or dealing with large quantities of compostables on a small farm.
