DESCRIPTION:POST-PONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE\nSoil Testing\, Cover Cropping & Monitoring Soil Health on Your Farm\nJoin the WSU Regional Small Farms Program and Finnriver Farm for a soils field day workshop. This workshop will include both indoor presentations and an outdoor field walk. \nWHEN: Wed April 22nd\, 9am-2pm\nWHERE: Finnriver Farm\, 124 Center Rd\, Chimacum\nCOST: $25 \nWorkshop Topics Include: \nSoil Testing: Interpreting Soil Test Results\n-Walk through an example\n-Fertility management decisions after soil test results \nHow does one monitor soil health on their farm?\n-Quick nitrate testing\n-Reduced tillage practices\n-Soil health assessments (short and long term) \nCover Cropping\n-Overview\n-Varieties for PNW\n-Seasonal timeline of cover cropping activities on farm\n-Equipment needed \nSpeakers include:\n-Keith Kisler\, owner of Finnriver Farm \n-Doug Collins\, WSu Puyallup Extension Faculty with the Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources and an affiliate faculty with the WSU Department of Crop and Soil Sciences. His extension programs and research focus on soil quality and vegetable and fruit production for small farms. \n-Nathan Stacey\, Post Doctoral Researcher at WSU Puyallup Research & Extension Center \n  \nWSU Refund Policy: Workshop/class/event registration fees will be refunded to participants\, minus a small processing fee\, no less than 7 days prior to the event.
