DESCRIPTION:Join WSU Regional Small Farms and nursery woman\, Leilani Wood\, of Sunbaked Greenhouse for an on-farm walk through of her greenhouse and sweetpotato propagation system. Farmers will learn:  \n\nMethods for propagating sweetpotato slips for planting \nHow to maximize slip production \nTips for planting rooted and unrooted slips \nGeneral information about managing a commercial plant production greenhouse\n\n\nRegistration Details  \n Date: Monday\, April 8\, 11:00 am – 12:00pm (farmers may stay later if there are more questions) (in-person event!)  \n Location:  Address will be provided to registered attendees  \n Audience: Farmers\, Homesteaders and Producers Only  \nRegistration link: Please only register for this farm walk if you plan to attend as there is limited space for this event. SUMMARY:Open Office Hours WSDA Local Food System Infrastructure Grant
DESCRIPTION:Join WSU Regional Small Farms and the Kitsap Conservation District for our virtual open office hours discussing the Spring 2024 WSDA Local Food Systems Infrastructure Grant. This is a time for farmers to get questions answered from local resource representatives and former grant reviewers. \nThe Local Food System Infrastructure Grant program supports local food supply chains and market access for farms\, ranches\, food processors\, and food distributors. The intention is to fund projects that expand and strengthen collaboration across linkages in the regional food supply chain. \nThis virtual offering will include overview and discussion of the following topics: \n\nBrief overview of grant\, including allowable costs and ineligible costs\nMaking your application shine: tips to make your grant stand out\nNew and beginning farmer focus: What infrastructure is most needed (pack shed\, walk in or coolbot\, field transportation/processing\, etc)\nThinking ahead to next year’s opportunities\nQ&A with local agriculture resource representatives and former grant reviewers.\n\nIn addition to this local opportunity\, the WSDA has scheduled helpful applicant workshops and provides information and assistance via their grants webpage. \nWhen: April 10th\, 2024 @ 7pm\nWhere: Virtual\nAudience: Farmers and Food Producers\nRegistration: This is an online event. DESCRIPTION:Join WSU Regional Small Farms for the next online Sweetpotato educational class. If you missed out last year\, here’s another chance to learn the basics of growing sweetpotatoes in the maritime climate of western Washington.
