DESCRIPTION:Pre-register to receive the zoom link here \nWho is this class for?: Farms & value-added businesses in Clallam\, Jefferson\, and Kitsap Counties who have been in operation for 3+ years who are looking to expand\, assess options of approaching debt in a profitable way.  \nClass Description: In partnership with North Olympic Development Council and WSU Regional Small Farms Program. Come learn about ag lending opportunities and supports available to navigate smart debt to grow your farm or food business – from federal loan programs to local peer-to-peer investment. This class goes beyond loan program overviews and more into the nuts and bolts of how to make decisions to access capital at times of growth. Also hear directly from a farmer how she has successfully taken on and leveraged different lending opportunities to profitably scale up her business. Other examples of successful business strategies will be shared. SUMMARY:On Farm Composting: Part 2 Farm Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join WSU Regional Small Farms for our next Dirt Talk event series all about on-farm composting. This is a two-part series for farmers who want to learn more about building\, managing\, and making high quality compost for use on your farm. Please see details below for Part 2 which is an in-person farm walk. \n—– \nOn-Farm Composting Part 2 – Farm Walk\nDate: June 4th\, 2024\, from 2pm – 4pm\nLocation: South Kitsap – Address will be given at time of registration\nAudience: Farmers \nThis second class will be in-person at Rokalu Farms in South Kitsap. Bob Gilby\, owner of Rokalu Farm\, will be going over composting practices implemented on his farm and discussing:\n– Troubleshooting common compost pile problems\n– Infrastructure needed\n– The farms composting methods (what kind of piles/systems do they make? How much compost is produced?)\n– How they utilize compost on-farm\n– Q&A with Bob and Farmer Networking \nRegistration:\nPlease only register for the farm walk portion of the series if you plan to attend as there is limited space for this event. If you register and are unable to come\, we kindly ask that you inform us at least 48 hours before the event so that we may open up registration to other interested farmers.\nIf you go to register and there are no spaces available\, please email jess.sappington@wsu.edu to be put on our cancellation list. \n  \n \n  \nPlease note – If you want to register for both classes in this series: you must select the date of the first class on Brown Paper Ticket registration\, add to cart\, and then click “continue shopping”.
