SUMMARY:Kitsap Farm Tour
DESCRIPTION:The 2nd Annual Kitsap Farm Tour will be Sunday\, August 11th\, 2024 from 10am – 4pm! This is an opportunity for the public to visit multiple farms across Kitsap in a one-day\, self-guided tour.  The tour is an initiative of the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition\, a group of dedicated farmers working together to promote agritourism in Kitsap County. The event is supported by WSU Kitsap Extension\, Visit Kitsap Peninsula\, and the Kitsap Community & Agricultural Alliance (KCAA). \nThe event is FREE to the public with a suggested donation of $10 per family/car. All donations go directly towards helping the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition of farmers continue to grow and improve the event for future years. \nFor full information about the farm tour\, list of Farm Sites and tour map\, please visit the Kitsap Farm Tour webpage.\n

DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed to help you explore the development of a small farm enterprise and create a plan of action for achieving your small farm dream! Interested in starting a small farm? Wonder what it would take\, and if you’re ready? Whether you’re in the planning stages or have just begun\, this 3-hour virtual intensive class will help you determine what options are available for you\, network with others and learn what it takes to begin and sustain a small-scale farming business. \nEste taller está diseñado para ayudarle a explorar el desarrollo de una pequeña empresa agrícola y crear un plan de acción para alcanzar su sueño de una pequeña granja. ¿Está interesado en poner en marcha una pequeña empresa agrícola? ¿Le pregunta qué haría falta y si está preparado? SUMMARY:2nd Annual Sweetpotato Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Join WSU Regional Small Farms and WSU NWREC at the 2nd Annual Sweetpotato Field Day!  \nVisit the sweetpotato trial fields at the WSU Northwest Research and Extension Center in Mt. Vernon to see side by side comparison of common commercial varieties\, Washington farmer recommended varieties\, new wireworm resistant lines and unreleased breeding lines from the USDA sweetpotato program that are being assessed for western WA growing conditions. Different planting and growing techniques will be on display\, such planting slips horizontally vs. vertically\, the use of black plastic mulch vs. no mulch and growing sweetpotatoes vertically on a trellis.
