The Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board adopted the 2022 Washington State Noxious Weed List on November 4th, 2021, adding 3 new Class B species, one new Class C species, and a classification change from B to C (common tansy, Tanacetum vulgare). The new species in WAC 16-750-011 are:
- Hanging sedge, Carex pendula, with two subsecies (C. pendula subsp. pendula and C. pendula subsp. agastachys), Class B;
- Rough chervil, Chaerophyllum temulum, Class B;
- Wild basil/basil savory, Clinopodium vulgare, Class B;
- Green alkanet, Pentaglottis sempervirens, Class C.
Other changes made by the Washington State Noxious Weed Board, including modifications to WAC 16-750, may be viewed at: (https://www.nwcb.wa.gov/whats-new). The state list went into effect on January 1, 2022.
The San Juan County 2022 Noxious Weed List must be adopted by March 7th.
In order for this list to become accepted for San Juan County, it must be approved by the County Noxious Weed Control Board based on public input received at this meeting. The Weed Board requests the public’s insights about local weed distributions as well as suggestions for the 2023 weed list, closing April 30.
