SUMMARY:Cultivating Success™: Whole Farm Planning
DESCRIPTION:This fall course will cover a broad range of topics including production and markets for today’s small farm!  Whether you are just exploring the opportunities available or already have an existing operation\, you’ll learn what it takes to create\, sustain\, and grow a viable small farm.   \n\nDetails:\nDates: Sept. 22nd through Nov. 3rd \nTime:  Mondays from 6-8pm \nLocation: Online course through Zoom with regional in-person opportunities \nCost: $200 registration per farm (up to 3 participants). Scholarships available for anyone for whom the course fee is a barrier. \nCultivating Success™: Whole Farm Planning will walk you through a step-by-step process\, to help you prepare a well thought out plan for your land\, life\, and farm business. Learn how to use a whole system lens to create a living plan for your small farm future. Classes will meet weekly through Zoom\, in an online classroom environment and you will be able to connect with a statewide community of other aspiring farm planners. SUMMARY:From Farmers Market to Grocery Retail – September 29\, 1:00-2:00pm (online)
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with San Juan County WSU Extension\, the EDC invites farm owners and producers interested in expanding their businesses into retail\, to a new workshop led by Mike Darrow\, Certified Business Advisor\, Washington SBDC\, Development Center (SBDC)! \nIn this informative one-hour workshop\, attendees will learn everything they need to know about transitioning into grocery and retail sales. The course will cover grocery terminology\, distribution\, promotional costs\, slotting fees\, production capacity\, compliant manufacturing facilities\, payment terms and much more.  \nMr. Darrow brings over 35 years of expertise in consumer product goods (CPG) in both durable and consumable products (branded food products) on a domestic and international level. He worked as a small business owner in the specialty foods sector for 10 years\, along with management roles in a Fortune 200 food company.
