{"id":14468,"date":"2026-04-02T13:30:51","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T20:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/sanjuan\/?page_id=14468"},"modified":"2026-04-02T13:38:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T20:38:56","slug":"4-h-cat-project-cage-decorating-score-sheet","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/sanjuan\/4-h-cat-project-cage-decorating-score-sheet\/","title":{"rendered":"4-H Cat Project Cage Decorating Score Sheet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Each decorated cat cage will be evaluated in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>First Impression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Originality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information Card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work Done by Member<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic Comfort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easy View of Cat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The judge will provide a rating of Excellent, Good, or Fair for each of these criteria; as well as some comments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Criteria for Cage Decorations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Judge on originality. The superintendent will inform the judge if there is a special theme or any other special awards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The cage decorations must be designed and assembled by 4-H member, not parent. Parts of the decorations may be purchased or put together with items on hand, but some original construction is encouraged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A card must be displayed on the cage which states: cage title or theme; whether the decorations were made or purchased; if made, how were they made and did the member have help making them; if organic materials were used, were they determined to be safe; and any other information the member would like to point out to the judge(s).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic comforts: the cat must be comfortable with room to move around and lie down. The cage must be covered on top, sides, rear, and bottom. The cage must include a litter pan with clean litter, fresh water, and food. (If the cat is on a restricted diet, a card stating this should be placed on the cage.) The litter pan and food and water dishes should be part of the decorations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety: the decorations should not be something the cat could destroy, be hurt on, or eat and become ill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The cat must be seen. The front of the cage is NOT to be covered.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Scoring<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If most of the marks are *\u2019s (excellent), a blue ribbon is awarded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If most of the marks are +\u2019s (good), a red ribbon is awarded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If most of the marks are \u2013\u2018s (fair), (highly unlikely) a white ribbon is awarded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cage Decoration Information Card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following information is to be included on the cage decoration information card<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Jr., Int., or Sr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cage Title\/Theme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I decorated my cage as follows: (explain what you made and\/or purchased, how you made it, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I made items by myself\/with help (circle one). Explain any help you had. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I determined organic material was safe.
