Summit<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><strong> Cultivating Connections<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WSU San Juan County Extension and Summit planning partners invite proposals for presentations, panels, workshops, demonstrations, and interactive sessions for the 2027 San Juan Islands Agricultural Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re seeking engaging sessions that share practical skills, research, local experience, and innovative ideas that strengthen agriculture and food systems in the San Juan Islands and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Summit Date: <\/strong>Saturday, February 27, 2027<br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Camp Orkila, Orcas Island, Washington<br><strong>Proposal Deadline:<\/strong> October 12, 2026 (submit using the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSevec146hwv67ntWLDt1bIg3tpJ33bPt2KYeiNG5au48LHTFQ\/viewform\">online proposal form<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Submit?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now in its 15th year, the Summit brings together more than 150 farmers, ranchers, researchers, educators, food businesses, land managers, and community partners to learn, exchange ideas, and build relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s theme, Cultivating Connections, celebrates the relationships that strengthen agriculture\u2014from farmer-to-farmer learning and research partnerships to connections between farms, communities, and the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome proposals that offer practical knowledge, lessons learned, research findings, demonstrations, or interactive learning experiences that attendees can apply in their own work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Topics of Interest<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re especially interested in collaborative, hands-on, and participatory sessions related to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Farmer-to-farmer learning, mentorship, and beginning farmer support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farm transfer, land access, and collaborative farming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On-farm research and practical production techniques<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soil health, water, climate resilience, and integrated pest management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seed systems, crop breeding, and variety trials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local food systems, value-added agriculture, and market development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farm-to-school, agritourism, and community engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indigenous foodways and traditional ecological knowledge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Livestock, grazing, biodiversity, pollinators, and conservation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Renewable energy, agrivoltaics, and farm infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of all, we&#8217;re looking for sessions that inspire conversation, build connections, and leave participants with practical ideas they can put to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Submit a Proposal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please
