Not every member chooses every opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-container wsu-color-background--gray-5 wsu-spacing-after--xxmedium wsu-spacing-top--small wsu-spacing-padding-left--small wsu-spacing-padding-right--small\" >\r\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Participate in 4-H<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">A youth needs to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xxsmall\">Enroll in 4-H Online and pay applicable program fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xxsmall\">Join a club or approved 4-H experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xxsmall\">Follow the 4-H Code of Conduct.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xxsmall\"><strong>Actively participate in their club and project activities.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--xxsmall\">Enroll in the project areas they plan to pursue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Fair and auction participation are not required to be a 4-H member.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-container wsu-spacing-after--xxmedium wsu-color-background--white wsu-spacing-top--small wsu-spacing-padding-left--small wsu-spacing-padding-right--small\" >\r\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Participate in 4-H at Fair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">A member must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Be enrolled in San Juan County 4-H by April 30.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be enrolled in the project area(s) they intend to exhibit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet applicable animal ownership, identification, paperwork, or other project requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the <strong>My 4-H Year Record<\/strong> and any required supplemental project records by August 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit their entries through <strong>FairEntry<\/strong> by July 15.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring an eligible exhibit\/animal and follow applicable Fairbook and department requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain a member in good standing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Remember: <\/strong>Fair is an opportunity to demonstrate and celebrate learning, not the purpose of 4-H. Members can have a successful 4-H year without participating in Fair.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-callout  wsu-border--color-vineyard\" >\r\n        \n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What About Record Books?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Records are not required simply to enroll and participate in San Juan County 4-H.<\/strong> They help youth set goals, document learning, and reflect on their growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For Fair:<\/strong> Members must complete the <strong>My 4-H Year Record<\/strong> and any required supplemental project records by the established county deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leader Tip:<\/strong> Introduce records early and encourage members to work on them throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-container wsu-color-background--gray-5 wsu-spacing-after--xxmedium wsu-spacing-top--small wsu-spacing-padding-left--small wsu-spacing-padding-right--small\" >\r\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Earn Fair Premiums<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--medium\">Fair participation does not automatically qualify a member for premiums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">Youth must meet all Fair participation requirements and:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Keep exhibits on public display for at least seven hours and until at least 8:00 p.m. Sunday of Fair week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Animal exhibitors must also participate in required Showmanship, the appropriate Judging Contest, and Herdsmanship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-container wsu-spacing-after--xxmedium wsu-color-background--white wsu-spacing-top--small wsu-spacing-padding-left--small wsu-spacing-padding-right--small\" >\r\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Participate in the Auction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">Auction participation is optional and adds requirements beyond Fair participation. Youth must first meet all applicable 4-H Fair requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\"><strong>For the Livestock Market Animal Auction, <\/strong>a youth must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Meet applicable animal ownership requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit the <strong>Intent to Sell<\/strong> and <strong>LMAAC Memorandum<\/strong> by the deadlines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete required health\/quality-assurance documentation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete required weigh-ins and sifting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in required Showmanship, Judging, and Herdsmanship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet market\/quality requirements and receive an eligible market-class ribbon\/placing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\"><strong>For the Still Life Auction, <\/strong>a youth must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Enter an eligible Still Life exhibit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in Exhibitorship in the Marie Boe Building.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive an eligible evaluation ribbon\/placing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign up by the posted deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow applicable Still Life Auction and Fairbook requirements.<strong><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Selling at auction is not required for participation in a project or at Fair.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wsu-callout  wsu-border--color-goldfinch\" >\r\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leader Reminder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This page summarizes the requirements leaders are most commonly asked about.
