The volunteers on the Council must determine what those needs are and how to best deliver programs to meet those needs. Throughout the state, volunteers work in partnership with Extension professionals to develop programs that best serve the changing needs of youth in their county or area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">In each county an Extension professional is ultimately responsible for the 4-H program. Consequently, all work and decisions of the 4-H Leaders\u2019 Councils are advisory to the 4-H professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you are a 4-H Volunteer, 4-H leader, 4-H family or 4-H member, Council is important to YOU!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\"><strong>All&nbsp;<\/strong>4-H leaders, parents, members (especially teens) are welcome to attend Leaders\u2019 Council meetings.&nbsp;Please encourage at least one leader, teen, or parent to represent your group (Club, Family or Special Interest Program) at Leaders Council meetings!&nbsp;It doesn\u2019t have to be the same person each time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">The 4-H Leaders Council in San Juan County plays a crucial role in supporting the educational needs of enrolled youth. Volunteers on the council work closely with Extension professionals to develop and deliver programs that address the evolving needs of young people in the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">Here are some key functions of the San Juan County 4-H Leaders Council:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\"><strong>Financial Support<\/strong>: They provide financial assistance to teens and leaders for attending conferences, workshops, training, and forums.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\"><strong>Scholarship Management<\/strong>: They manage the local 4-H Scholarship (EAS) program and handle awards such as trophies, ribbons, and county-specific recognitions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\"><strong>Advisory Role<\/strong>: They offer input to Extension professionals and San Juan Fair Board and share information back with leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\"><strong>Sub-Committee Oversight<\/strong>: They oversee and support various sub-committees, including the Livestock Market Animal Auction Committee (LMAAC), Horse Leaders, Scholarships, Trophies &amp; Awards, and others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\"><strong>Policy Recommendations<\/strong>: They approve and forward suggestions for 4-H policy changes to the WA State 4-H<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wsu-spacing-after--small\">All 4-H leaders, parents, and members, especially teens, are encouraged to attend Leaders Council meetings. Livestock Market Animal Auction Committee (LMAAC)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>LMAAC is a standing committee of Leaders\u2019 Council. Meetings are held 4-6 times a year. Conference Call in, or video (zoom) is an option for attendance at these meetings. Members are allowed to vote by a show of hands, or verbally, either hybrid or in person.
