One glance at the poster should be enough time to \u201cget\u201d the intended subject matter to your viewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Do not use your demonstration poster. This is a disqualification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">All work must be done by the member (adults can only give suggestions)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Size should be a minimum of 14 in x 22 in and a maximum of 22 in x 28 in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">You may not use copyrighted illustrations or cartoons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Use one idea, fact, or piece of imformation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Plan your poster before starting it (draw a draft, list out your supplies)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Your subject should have to do with your project area &#8211; it can be used at display in the barn after it is judged<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Use pictures\/illustrations to get your point across and use as few words as necessary. A picture is worth a thousand words!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Use borders to set off or frame your content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Be short, concise, and clear<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Use humor &#8211; imaginative content earns points<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Use color &#8211; bright colors catch the eye<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Lettering &#8211; use a straight edge to draw lines. Space evenly. Use all upper or lower case for labels. Use computer letter for technology assisted posters. Make sure the letter are large enough to see.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Neatness &#8211; watch smudges, coloring outside the line and <em>spelling!<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"wsu-spacing-after--sxxsmall\">Any charts or graphs should be titled for clarity and understanding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which type to bring to fair?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Educational Poster rules and guidelines are housed in Department 4 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/sanjuan\/4h\/fair-and-auction\/4-h-fair-book\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"9044\">San Juan County 4-H Fairbook<\/a> please consult the fairbook for full details. We split our educational posters into two classses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>CLASS A &#8211; Hand Crafted\n<ul>\n<li>Posters must only include artwork and lettering drawn entirely by the exhibitor\u2019s own hand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CLASS B &#8211; Technology Assisted\n<ul>\n<li>Posters that include any computer-generated clip art or lettering, photographs, stencil use, or any other art medium that is not the exhibitor\u2019s own handwork.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You should choose whichever class is best for your skill set or interest.
