Course Information

This course is only offered in Spanish. WSDA developed the Private Applicator Pre-License course is designed to advance the skills and knowledge awareness about safe pesticide practices and effective pesticide use in preparation for the exam. The training covers the range of topics that comprise WSU’s Private Applicator Pesticide Education Study Manual.
Note: Not all exam topics are covered in the course. Courses do not cover aquatics, public health, seed treatment, soil fumigation, Pest Control Operator (PCO), or Structural Pest Inspector (SPI) unless otherwise specified. Instructional format employs both lecture and hands-on activities.

Total Course Fee

$133 per person (General Course Fee $75, Exam + Exam Fee $58)
The WSDA Private Applicator Exam is issued at the conclusion of the course. The cost for the exam includes the $33 license fee and 25 testing fee (a total of $58/person).

No cash accepted, only check, money order or cashier’s check is accepted. Payment information is found in the registration. 

Attendance 

In order for the class to take place, a minimum of 25 participants are required, with a maximum of 45 participants. In the past, we have cancelled class due to low turnout.

Cancellation Policy

If the minimum of 25 participants is not met WSU Skagit County Extension will need to cancel the course.

  • If you paid using a check or money order, a full refund will be issued back.
  • If you paid using Paypal you will be reimbursed in full minus the $.30 processing fee.
Course Curriculum
  • Day 1: Laws & Regulations, Formulations, & Pesticide Labels
  • Day 2: Pesticide Labels Cont., the Environment, Health & Safety
  • Day 3: Identification of Insects, Weeds, and Plant Diseases; Calibration & Calculations;
  • Day 4: Private Applicator Exam
Course Materials

All participants are required to acquire a study manual beforehand and bring the manual to class. The Spanish Private Applicator Manual (EM020S, $21 + tax) is available from WSU Extension offices or can be ordered by calling (800) 723-1763 or from the WSU Extension Online Store.
