DESCRIPTION:Forest Range Event Flyer \nSource Contact: \n  \nAndy Perleberg\, WSU Extension Forester\n509-667-6540 andyp@wsu.edu \n  \nForest and Range Owners Field Day Scheduled for Southeast Washington  \n  \nDayton\, Wash. – A unique opportunity is coming for family forest and rangleland owners and managers in southeast Washington and surroundings. Instructed by the states recognized experts in forest and range management\, wildlife habitat\, and other land stewardship disciplines\, this “out-in-the-woods” educational event will provide useful\, timely\, and unbiased information sure to meet the needs of landowners with five or 500 acres.  The field day has not been held in southeast Washington for eight years\, so landowners should not miss this opportunity to get a bounty of information in one day. \n  \nThe field day will be held on Saturday\, June 24\, from 9 am to 4:30 pm at the Dickinson Family Land (at Cougar Canyon) just southeast of Dayton\, Wash. The location is within easy driving distance from Asotin\, Columbia\, Garfield\, Walla Walla and Whitman Counties. \n  \nThe field day is designed to prepare landowners to plan and execute management activities that meet their personal objectives\, reduce risks and protect their financial investment. Absentee landowners with property in eastern Washington are especially encouraged to attend. \n  \nParticipants can choose from a wide variety of classes and activities taught by specialists in forest and rangeland health and management\, livestock forages\, wildlife habitat\, weed control\, wildfire protection\, post-fire restoration\, timber and non-timber forest products\, using global positioning systems\, chainsaw safety and maintenance\, forest and rangeland security and safety\, assistance programs\, and more. The presenters will be available to answer questions specific to your property situation.  Youth activities will be available all day. \n  \nThe fee for those who register by Monday\, June 19\, is $20 per person or $30 for a family of two or more. After that date the fee is $30 per person or $40 per family. An optional BBQ lunch will be available for $10 per person to benefit the Future Farmers of America.
