SUMMARY:Be the One: Community QPR Suicide Prevention Training
DESCRIPTION:Join WSU CARES at Willis Tucker Park for Be the One — a free community suicide prevention training event on June 29th\, 3-5:00 p.m. Whether you are an adult community member or a teen (13+) ready to make a difference\, there’s a place for you here. \n\n\n\nThis event is free to all. Please see the following workshop options by population. \n\n\n\nAdult Track: Adult Question\, Persuade\, Refer (QPR) 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.\n\n\n\nQPR is a brief\, evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training that teaches community members to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and connect someone to help. In a study of over 10\,000 trained gatekeepers\, more than 1 in 5 identified someone at risk within a year of training\, and over 92% made a successful referral to care. Attending this free training means you’ll leave knowing how to spot warning signs\, start a compassionate conversation\, and take action that could save a life. Snacks provided. \n\n\n\nYouth Track: Question\, Persuade\, Refer Teen (QPR Teen) 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.\n\n\n\nQPR Teen brings the same evidence-based training to youth ages 13-19\, building the skills and confidence to support peers who may be struggling. Teens who complete the training join a growing community of young people who know how to be the one who shows up when it matters most. Snacks provided. \n\n\n\nYouth – Optional Sharing Session 5:00 – 5:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nAre you a teen who wants your voice heard in your community? Do you want to showcase the work you’re doing to spread a health and wellness message? QPR Teen participants are invited to stay for this informal planning session to discuss organizing a countywide teen health and wellness advocacy event. Open to all QPR Teen attendees – no separate registration required. \n\n\n\nRSVP: Be the One: Community QPR Suicide Prevention Training | Snohomish County | Washington State University

Our fixers can repair your items and keep stuff from being tossed in the landfill!\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSteps To Participate:\n\nArrive at the Edmonds Library between 10am and 2pm.\nRepair Specialists will be on-site to help with your item and will work with you on repairing.\nPlease arrive before 1PM for most repairs\, as the last hour is usually filled with completing repairs rather than taking on new projects.\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note:\n\n\n\n\nWe cannot fund the cost of any additional parts needed. If your item needs a part for repair\, our volunteer will contact you to discuss this with you.\n\n\n\nWe don’t guarantee repairs\, and we are not responsible for any damages from attempting to repair an item. So\, you must sign a liability release form before seeing a repair specialist.\n\n\n\nAt these free repair events\, we may decline to work on any item – in advance or at the event – depending on the item\, the type of repair needed\, the fixers available\, or for other reasons. We cannot work on cell phone batteries or screens\, or Apple product hardware.\n\n\n\nTwo item maximum per event. First come\, first served.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat We Repair:\n\n\n\n\nTabletop appliances (e.g. toasters\, blenders\, coffee pots\, etc.)\n\n\n\nOur most popular items: vacuums and lamps\n\nPLEASE EMPTY VACUUMS PRIOR TO EVENT\n\n\n\n\n\nToys\n\n\n\nBicycles\n\n\n\nComputer software issues (e.g. storage issues\, long loading times\, email\, etc.)\n\nWe can install Linux OS on computers with Windows 10 that is no longer supported.\n\n\n\n\n\nClothing mending and small hemming\n\n\n\nSimple jewelry repair (e.g. broken clasp\, missing link\, etc.)\n\n\n\nHome decor\n\n\n\nAnd more!
