Using a hands-on, learn-by-doing model, 4-H utilizes a youth\u2019s area of interest to teach valuable life skills and provide genuine leadership opportunities. style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Join 4-H?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H is open to all youth who have reached their 5th birthday (on or before October 1st of the current 4-H year) through those who have not reached their 19th birthday (on or before October 1st of the current 4-H year). The 4-H year runs October 1 to September 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four age groups in 4-H:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Cloverbud: ages 5-7<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Junior: ages 8-10<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intermediate: ages 11-13<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior: ages 14 to 19<em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth must be at least 8 years of age on October 1 to participate hands-on with large animals and in shooting sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/snohomish\/4h\/join-4-h\/\">How to Join 4-H<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adults 18+ can apply to volunteer with us. Today 4-H is everywhere\u2013in cities, suburbs, small towns, and rural communities. 4-H is the largest youth development organization in the nation. The United States has more than 6 million members and 600,000 leaders. Around the world, 4-H type clubs now exist in at least 82 countries. In the 21st century, 4-H serves a broad clientele with expanded program focus using a variety of ways to deliver its effective \u201clearn by doing\u201d approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington State University 4-H Youth Development is developing young people to become productive citizens who are engaged in positive change, meeting the needs of a diverse and changing society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H youth development education creates supportive environments for all youth and families to reach their fullest potential. This will be accomplished through a systemic approach of foundation and mission driven science to meet our goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>4-H is the nation\u2019s largest youth development organization. We reach out to kids and their families to build skills for real life.
