Demonstrate to program leader, a knowledge of sound cat care, health and safety to include all diseases which cats can be vaccinated against. Presentation of a healthy, well-conditioned, well groomed animal in all showmanship events. Participation in contests such as posters, judging, and cat bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Experiences (20 points)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Attend clinics and seminars on cat care, judging, diseases, etc. Organize and\/or attend vet clinics and breed clinics. Continued improvement in handling, grooming and health care of animal. Basic Citizenship: Helpfulness and cooperation, good attitude, increase public awareness of responsibilities of the project, participate in fund raising for animal protection agencies, assist at functions to promote public awareness of the project, other club activities. Organize and participate in community service projects in the local area related to cats (i.e. nursing home visits, vaccination clinics, fund raising for cat rescue programs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Other 4-H activities related to the community or service projects, such as food bank, fund raisers, and nursing home visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non 4-H Experiences (5 points)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Service activities involved in as a result of church, school, or other non 4-H group participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Achievement Pin Applications must be submitted to the Extension Office for county judging with an up to date 4-H Record Book. Those choosing the interview option must turn in the application and will be notified of an interview time. Member continues to grow in the project by breeding or expanding into other breeds. Consistent participation in own club, at clinics, at county shows and fairs. Member has substantial responsibilities in the form of Show Secretary, organizing and executing clinics, shows, fairs and judging contests throughout the year. Must attend and support 80% of cavy program functions and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Size and Scope &#8211; Other Projects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation in at least one other project such as, Vet Science, Leadership, Foods, Creative Arts, Ambassadors or any project that helps enrich the involvement in the Cavy Program and helps develop a well rounded 4H member. Record book should reflect active participation in these other projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Experiences &#8211; Main Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Shows growth in the variety and depth of the learning experiences undertaken each year in this project. Knowledge of cavy health care and diseases complete. Continued improvement in handling and showing techniques. Learn to do and participate in health check at shows and fairs. Learn to create exceptional educational poster, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Knowledge and Skills &#8211; Main Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Member must show consistent participation and skill in contests such as educational posters and displays, bowl, quizdown, as well as judging contests and showmanship. Keep an up to date 4H Record Book with accurate add sheets. Continued improvement in showmanship contests. Area level Public Presentation is required. Learn to do table and show secretary functions and use these skills regularly throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Section II &#8211; Experiences in Leadership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteer Leadership-Main Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Work with younger members in learning all the above information. Work with county program leader and fair superintendent. Work independently and interdependently in various areas listed above. Help new leaders. Organize field trips and guest speakers at county level. Participate in fundraising for the Cavy Program. Assist in researching to update materials in the project. Learn about how government functions at local, state, and national levels; how transportation, communications, utilities and religion play a role in your community. Find ways your club can help the community. Be familiar with how your club functions, including parliamentary procedures. Demonstrate respect of our flag, other people and their opinions, and property. Assist in cleaning up along the roadside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Size and Scope &#8211; Other Projects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Community Service &#8211; help collect food and clothing for needy families, help flood or storm victims locally or in other parts of the country or even&nbsp; internationally, help physically challenged children, help adopt a family, adopt a grandparent (give gifts and visit regularly). Conduct a community safety&nbsp; program, help others &#8211; send cards to hospitalized young people, volunteer at nursing homes, conduct a clean-up litter campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Experiences &#8211; Main Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Be aware of issues, such as Pet Ownership Responsibilities, Adopt a Stream. Be an informed citizen, learn from radio, TV, newspapers and magazines. Conduct a voter information\/registration drive, write letters to county and state legislators or congressmen voicing your opinion on issues. Work with agencies in your community. Become pen pals with people of other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Knowledge and Skills &#8211; Main Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Organize Youth at Risk activities, help other members to see the problems that arise through abuse of illegal drugs and alcohol. Be a friend. Set a good example for others to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Section II &#8211; Experiences in Leadership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteer Leadership-Main Project<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Organize activities pertaining to citizenship. Get involved at local, state and international levels. Organize help for needy, organize informational meetings to help others. Give public presentations to your club and other groups.
