{"id":19286,"date":"2017-01-19T17:57:14","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T01:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/snohomish\/?page_id=19286"},"modified":"2025-09-02T11:16:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T18:16:41","slug":"ambassadors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/snohomish\/latinx\/ambassadors\/","title":{"rendered":"Ambassadors of the Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Welcome!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The WSU Snohomish County Extension Environment and Community Outreach (ECO) team is proud to promote cultural diversity by offering educational and volunteer opportunities in Spanish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2022\/12\/Promotores-4-e1672518064546.jpg\" alt=\"A group of twelve adults and one child stand in a row indoors, smiling and holding reusable bags and spray bottles.\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who are the Ambassadors (Promotores) of the Environment?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ambassadors of the Environment are volunteers with WSU Snohomish County Extension trained to educate Latinx\/Hispanic families and communities how to care for our natural environment so we can all enjoy a clean, healthy, and safe world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What kind of volunteering do the Ambassadors do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassadors educate groups on topics including solid waste, recycling, hazardous materials and safe alternatives to cleaning chemicals.&nbsp; They also help manage food waste at events by setting up sorting stations for garbage, recycling, and compost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can you take care of our environment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reduce your consumption of goods by making fewer purchases, reuse items you already have, and recycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Take reusable bags with you when you shop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Put your food scraps in the yard waste bin or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/01\/Por-que-compostear_DOE.pdf\">make your own compost (pdf)<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take the hazardous materials you no longer use to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/01\/HHW-what-to-take_Spanish_SnoCo.pdf\">Everett hazardous materials disposal facility (pdf)<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 it&#8217;s free!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start making and using your own green\/ecological cleaning products \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/01\/WSU-3-green-recipes_Spanish.pdf\">here are some recipes!
