New Required Training<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

WSU now requires all faculty, staff, and volunteers who engage with youth to complete a mandatory training on Executive Policy 14:  Protection and Safety of Minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This includes all 4-H volunteers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training for volunteers is housed at the Extension Foundation’s platform for training modules<\/a>.  If you became a volunteer since 2019, you probably used this site to complete your basic training for 4-H volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recommend that if you have not yet watched the 2024-2025 Annual 4-H Update<\/a>, you do that first.  It’s only 20 minutes.  Ashley responds to some questions that might come up for you when you complete the EP-14 training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long is the training?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are three parts, each about 30 minutes, so you can do it in small pieces, if that suits you better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long do I have?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All 4-H volunteers must complete the training by June 1st of 2025.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will I ever have to take it again?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You may eventually need to repeat this training, or another version of it. For the 2025-2026 4-H year, you must have completed the training one time previously in order for your volunteer enrollment to be approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How engaging are these modules?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

That depends on your learning style!  If you like lecture-style trainings, it’s maybe three stars.  For those who prefer more interactive learning, hands-on, we estimate one star.  Bring snacks, beverages, notepad, whatever you need to stay focused.  If you would rate it differently, let us know!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I’ve been a volunteer for 50 years, do I still have to complete this training?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do I do if I can’t get logged into the Extension Foundation platform?  I get a message saying I am using my account on another site to log in.  Whaaaaat???<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Answer:  The only solution to this problem seems to be using a Google or Microsoft login to access the site.  These options are presented on the login page for the Extension Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
