Conflict Management<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Description<\/strong>:  People respond to conflict in varying ways. Find out what science says, how to respond to others using the power of empathy, and how to help youth manage their own conflicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Group Basics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Instructor<\/strong>: Ashley Hernandez-Hall<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Description<\/strong>: Learn how groups evolve over time, and pick up some practical skills and activities that can be employed in each stage of your group’s development, including the group agreement, 4-H meeting structure, conflict management, tips for evaluating success, and empathy, one of the most powerful tools in your volunteer toolbelt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project Leadership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Instructor<\/strong>: Kim Baker<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Description:  4-H methodology of experiential learning, including life skills wheel and hands-on practice. (Prerequisite for project leaders, required within 2 years of becoming a program leader- also required for Youth Development pin)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working with Youth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Instructor<\/strong>: Beth Wangen<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this 2-hour session for 4-H volunteers, we explore two major concepts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1.  Ages and Stages:  How youth change as they develop, and how we can alter our approach to engage them at their level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Positive Youth Development (PYD):  The “Essential Elements” that build resilience and prepare youth to succeed in life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    In Snohomish County, this training is required within two years of becoming a 4-H club leader, project leader, or program leader.  Join us!<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n\n\n
