You can learn to save money and the environment in your home and community at the <strong>FREE<\/strong> Save the Food Fest.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Save the Food Fest<\/strong> is hosted by WSU Snohomish County Extension\u2019s Sustainable Community Stewards, Agricultural Program, and SNAP-ED Program from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th at the Rosehill Community Center, located at 304 Lincoln Ave Ste 108.<\/p>\n<p>The event is free and open to all Snohomish County residents, though a donation to the Mukilteo Food Bank is highly encouraged.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #a32638\">Event Details<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can attend two workshops and participate in a host of educational activities during the event.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>11 a.m. &#8211; 12 p.m.<\/strong> Rosy Smit, Agricultural Coordinator for WSU Snohomish County Extension, will teach attendees to preserve and store food properly, including a demo of a quick pickling recipe anyone can do.<\/li>\n<li><strong>12 p.m. &#8211; 1 p.m. <\/strong>Free time to partake in the Fest\u2019s art and recipe contests, worm compost bin, kitchen supplies raffle, and trivia.<\/li>\n<li><strong>1 p.m. &#8211; 2 p.m. <\/strong>Kellee Byard, program coordinator for the Sustainable Community Stewards, will explain how to create a waste-free kitchen at home and cooking with stems and ends to make delicious food from unexpected sources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2 p.m. &#8211; 3 p.m.\u00a0<\/strong>Do any activities you didn&#8217;t have time for earlier as the event wraps up and contest\/raffle winners are announced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This event supports the state of Washington\u2019s goal to cut food waste in half by 2030. \u201cResearch shows that people don\u2019t like to waste food\u2014and that learning a few simple strategies can help them to achieve that.
