Join WSU CARES at Willis Tucker Park for Be the One \u2014 a free community suicide prevention training event on June 29th, 3-5:00 p.m. Whether you are an adult community member or a teen (13+) ready to make a difference, there\u2019s a place for you here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event is free to all. Please see the following workshop options by population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adult Track: Adult Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) 3:00 \u2013 5:00 p.m.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

QPR is a brief, evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training that teaches community members to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and connect someone to help. In a study of over 10,000 trained gatekeepers, more than 1 in 5 identified someone at risk within a year of training, and over 92% made a successful referral to care. Attending this free training means you\u2019ll leave knowing how to spot warning signs, start a compassionate conversation, and take action that could save a life. Snacks provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Track: Question, Persuade, Refer Teen (QPR Teen) 3:00 \u2013 5:00 p.m.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

QPR Teen brings the same evidence-based training to youth ages 13-19, building the skills and confidence to support peers who may be struggling. Teens who complete the training join a growing community of young people who know how to be the one who shows up when it matters most. Snacks provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth \u2013 Optional Sharing Session 5:00 \u2013 5:30 p.m.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Are you a teen who wants your voice heard in your community? Do you want to showcase the work you\u2019re doing to spread a health and wellness message? QPR Teen participants are invited to stay for this informal planning session to discuss organizing a countywide teen health and wellness advocacy event. Open to all QPR Teen attendees \u2013 no separate registration required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
