Borer Beetle Grub

Posted by asabins | June 21, 2016

This handsome “fella” was brought into our office last week. He measured just over 3.5″ and was found along with several other companions in a decaying tree stump. He was identified as a borer beetle grub. Not being an entomologist we cannot for sure identify the exact species but it appears to be very similar to the California prionus. As an adult it can be commonly referred to as a long-horned beetle.
