Gardening News

Sowing Seeds, March 30

We are excited to bring back this one-day gardening workshop. The workshop will be held at the Spokane Community College, Colville Branch. There are 4 sessions each with 4 class offerings for a total of 16 class options. Classes include waterwise gardening, preservation topics, native pollinators, gardening on a dime, hops, wine grapes, composting, backyard poultry, soil testing and Firewise landscaping. This year on-line registration is being offered. Sign up early to get the discounted price of $20 and ensure you get the classes you want. Opioid Response Conference, Pathways to Prevention March 15 9-Noon

The Opioid Response Conference is a free conference that takes place at the same time, over multiple sites across the region. This is a unique opportunity for our community to come together to address the opioid epidemic by taking action to increase awareness and prevention. Share your ideas. Be part of the solution. Northeast Washington Hunger Coalition Gala, March 2 4:30-7:30pm

Come celebrate with the Northeast Washington Hunger Coalition and help them fundraise to purchase produce from local farmers for the food pantries in our region. This will be a fantastic, farm-to-table dinner provided by our very own local producers. 4-H News

Sensational SaturdayMarch 2

Getting a little stir crazy with all the snow? Join us at the Spokane Community College in Colville for a day of learning and crafts. You do not need to be a member of 4-H. If you have ever considered joining 4-H this is an excellent opportunity to see what the program is all about. Perfect for school age children. The program runs from 9 am – 2 pm. Forestry News

Loggers Workshop, March 29

The Loggers Workshop promotes professionalism and life-long learning, promising our forests will remain healthy, productive, safe, and sustainable for generations to come. The course will go from 8 am- 4 pm and be held at the NE WA Ag and Trade Center in Colville. Cost is $20 per person and includes lunch. Society of American Forester CFE credits available. The agenda will cover forest management, cross-laminated timber, logging to create wildlife habitat, operating near utility lines, forest soils and designated skid trails, getting ready for fire season and more.
