Whether you live on your land or are an absentee owner, this is a great opportunity to learn how to gain more benefits from your family forest, no matter where it is located in the state.&nbsp; Classes are 50 minutes, with 10 minutes to change between programs. Throughout the day, over one dozen topics will be presented for you to choose from! By the end of the day, you will have attended as many sessions as time allows. Richard M. Lerner and Jacqueline V. Lerner, and the team at the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University, Medford, MA, partnered with faculty at America\u2019s land-grant universities to conduct groundbreaking research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The longitudinal study discovered that the structured out-of-school time learning, leadership experiences, and adult mentoring that young people receive through their participation in 4-H plays a vital role in helping them achieve success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to their peers research shows 4-H\u2019ers are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Nearly 4x more likely to make contributions to their communities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;About 2x more likely to be civically active<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Nearly 2x more likely to participate in science programs during out-of-school time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Nearly 2x more likely to make healthier choices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The research is helping families, schools, communities, and youth programs develop strategies to support children and adolescents.
