Guidance for Swine Tagging  *NEW FOR 2023*

  • Exhibitors Must complete online pre-register by May 23.  See link on Fair website. Swine MUST BE BROUGHT TO PRE-WEIGH IN.
  • All swine will remain in trailers. No weights will be taken.
  • Cattlemen will supply tags and tagger for exhibitors, parent or group leader to tag swine (ALL SWINE MUST BE TAGGED BY THOSE WHO BRING THEM TO WEIGH-IN). Cattlemen or sale committee helpers will NOT be allowed in trailers to help with tagging, this will assure that no cross contamination will be possible from one trailer to the next.
  • All equipment used will be sanitized after each trailer of swine.
  • Pictures of swine turned into the WSU Extension office will not be necessary or a part of the process.
  • Tags will be furnished by the Walla Walla County Cattlemen’s Association.

  • THERE IS NO RATE OF GAIN CONTEST FOR SWINE. An exhibitor may tag-in two (2) hogs but show and sell only one in the market sale class at the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days. Hogs must be less than 7 months old at the time of Fair. No oil or powder on sale hogs during the fair. Hogs must place blue or red to sell and weigh a minimum of 235 pounds and not over 290 pounds. Quality Assurance papers are required at Fair weigh in time. No crypt-orchid or underweight animals will be eligible for sale. All hogs will be shrunk 2%. If any sale animal is discovered to be crypt-orchid at the time of slaughter then the Exhibitors floor price for the animal will be deducted from the sale check. ALL swine exhibitors must sign an agreement that if your hog does not make weight, whether you take it back home that day or choose to participate in the feeder classes, it will return only to the farm/home from which it came. It cannot be taken to any other locations or any shows/fairs. The agreement will have full details and available through Exhibitors office. ALL swine coming into Fair must have Premise ID tag in ear upon entry
