  3. Decision-Making Tool for Nematode Management in Raspberry*<\/strong> (2:10 \u2013 2:30 pm)
    \nBy Inga Zasada, USDA Plant Pathologist\/Nematologist and Tom Walters, Ag Researcher at Walters Ag Research<\/em>. Summary of parasitic nematode biology, impact of cover crops and soil texture on nematode management, and results from fumigant alternative and bed fumigation trials.<\/li>\n

Summary of key findings of soilborne pathogen survey about whether Verticillium<\/em>, Phytophthora<\/em>, and Pratylenchus <\/em>(root lesion nematode) are associated with declining red raspberry sites.  Information on the presence of raspberry bushy dwarf virus (RBDV) and Cylindrocarpon will also be discussed.<\/li>\n
  5. How do you Decide what Soilborne Disease Management Approach is Optimal for your Field Situation?*<\/strong> (2:40 \u2013 3:20 pm)
    \nParticipatory Activity with growers; led by coordinators DeVetter, Zasada, Walters, and <\/em>Weiland<\/em>.  Posters will be hung on the wall and individually titled: Telone, Pi-Chlor\/Strike 60, Metam sodium, bed fumigation, tarping, and cover crops.   For each poster and corresponding practice, growers will be asked to brainstorm strengths and weaknesses of each practice for soilborne disease management and overall easiness of adoption.<\/li>\n
  6. Questions and discussion between growers and researchers regarding soilborne disease management in raspberry*<\/strong> (3:20 \u2013 3:30 pm)
    \nRefreshments provided during question and discussion period.<\/em><\/em><\/li>\n
  7. Observe and discuss fumigation equipment on display*<\/strong> (3:30 \u2013 3:55 pm)
    \nBed and broadcast fumigation rigs will be on display.  The owners of each fumigation rig will discuss application.  Coordinators DeVetter, Zasada, Weiland, and Walters will then facilitate a discussion on the strengths, weaknesses, and best practices for application.
