Youth Vocational & Public Education Garden<\/h3>\n

This urban garden is made possible by a partnership between Washington State University Extension, WSU Whatcom County Master Gardener Program, Northwest Youth Services, and City of Bellingham Parks & Recreation Department.<\/p>\n

Food Security:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u2022 Continue as a Food Bank Victory Garden \u2013 donate 300 pounds of fresh produce
\n\u2022 Pilot a weekly Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program for 10 subscribers
\n\u2022 Conduct compost workshops<\/p>\n

Youth Vocational Training:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u2022 Provide vocational programs focusing on employment skills, horticultural and cooking for youth ages 16-24
\n\u2022 Conduct service internships for youth ages 12-16
\n\u2022 Engaging WSU Master Gardener Youth Mentors, trained in trauma-informed care and resilience enhancement practices<\/p>\n

Youth Education Programming:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u2022 Partner with nearby identified schools with hands-on horticultural training designed enhance science and nutrition curricula
\n\u2022 Provide horticultural workshops for non-profit youth agencies (e.g. YMCA, 4-H, Scouts)<\/p>\n

Community Education:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u2022 Home Horticulture public workshops conducted by WSU Extension & Master Gardeners
\n\u2022 Garden\/Conservation workshops conducted by partner businesses\/agencies (e.g. upcycling, solar energy, etc.)<\/p>\n

Community Engagement:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

\u2022 Public rental space
\n\u2022 Plant sales, sustainable living workshops, for community events<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mission: To facilitate community development through adult and youth education, low-barrier vocational programs, and food security.<\/h6>\n
