Every 4-H club has one or more adult leaders.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">These volunteer leaders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Help teach Youth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help organize the club.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help officers and assist at meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inform parents about 4-H.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">There are different kinds of 4-H leaders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>General Club Leader<\/strong>: The main club leader and organizer who works with general club meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project Leader<\/strong>: Works with members on their specific project work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Activity Leader<\/strong>: Responsible for one or more activities. Some examples are recreation, record keeping, public presentations or community service activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Teen Leader<\/strong>: Works under the guidance of an adult. Helps with activities and events or helps members with their project work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4-H Volunteers are valued by WSU Extension and the 4-H Youth Development Program. 4-H volunteers and extension staff work together as a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Do I Become A 4-H Leader?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Call the 4-H office at your WSU Whitman County Extension at (509) 397-6290 if you would like to start your own club. We will arrange an orientation meeting explaining 4-H guidelines and will give you the materials and publications needed for your new club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All adult volunteer leaders need to<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Contact the WSU Whitman County Extension Office<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete and sign the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.wsu.edu\/4h\/4-h-volunteer-application\/\">4-H Application<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have 3 reference forms completed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the E-Learning Modules- <a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2020\/01\/How-to-access-eXtension-E-Learning-Modules.pdf\">How to access eXtension E-Learning Modules (pdf)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete Putting the Child First Video- <a href=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2020\/01\/How-to-access-eXtension-Putting-the-Child-First.pdf\">How to access eXtension Putting the Child First (pdf)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend face to face Leader Training<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register Online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete Background check with Sterling Volunteer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>All adult leaders are required to attend Volunteer Leader Training by a 4-H agent.
