hamsterPet projects teach youth more than just how cute pets can be. Youth learn how to determine the best pet for them, how to feed and care for their pets, fitting and showing skills, and how to be a great pet owner. Pet projects cover many small pets including mammals, cavy, fish, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, insects (arachnids), and crustaceans

Objectives

  • Learn about selecting different types of pets
  • Provide proper housing for different pets
  • Identify and care for basic needs of pets
  • Observe pet behavior
  • Explore genetics and animal reproduction
  • Care for a newborn animal
