Extension Information Technology Transfer Coordinator for Little Cherry Disease

Washington State University (WSU) Extension invites applications for a full time Extension Information Technology Transfer Coordinator for Little Cherry Disease.
X Phytoplasma and Little Cherry Virus have reached epidemic levels in Washington state with more than 1800 positive trees in 2019. Effective extension programing will be essential to managing these pathogens and the sustainability of the cherry industry in Washington.
The successful candidate will be responsible for outreach of the research-based information to tree fruit industry stakeholders in the area of X Phytoplasma and Little Cherry Virus biology and management. She/he will work with the Extension team, plant pathologists and entomologists to provide up-to-date and effective management information. Primary tasks will include the development and delivery of trainings (field days, workshops and talks) and training materials including factsheets, webpages (treefruit.wsu.edu), web articles, and videos. The individual will also manage and execute applied field research to develop recommendations. The individual will report to Regional Extension Specialist Tianna DuPont.
Required: Strong communication skills including written and verbal communication a must. Familiarity with the Washington Tree Fruit Industry, plant pathology, entomology and growing systems highly desired. Weekly travel in the seven Central Washington Counties required. The ability to travel and work occasional weekend, early mornings and/or evening hours. Exemplary verbal and written communication skills (English). Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid driver’s license at time of hire. Position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related experience in the program specialty. Prefer a master’s degree with three (3) years related experience. Demonstrated teaching experience and evaluating community projects and experience in preparing educational materials for low literacy and diverse populations.
