Learn about annuals and perennials, sun plants and shade plants, and the various ways flowering plants grow.&nbsp; Youth will also discover the basics of floral arranging, including how to cut flowers, which will last the longest, principles of design, and the best containers and holders for the types of arrangements they create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Gain an appreciation of the critical role plants play in the environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn how to grow plants indoors and outdoors through a variety of methods and learn how plants propagate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn about plant and flower health and what to look for when buying seeds, plugs, or mature plants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able to identify common flowers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop their skills in floral arrangements by exploring different ways to use flowers in decorative ways, such as in corsages, crafts, edible dishes, garden landscaping, and terrariums<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore hobbies and careers in floriculture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wpcdn.web.wsu.edu\/extension\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2024\/03\/WVF-2023-Blue-Barn.1-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"A display of floral arrangements marked with youth names and blue rbbons on a wooden shelf with fruit, wooden crates, and antique mason jars\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4-H Floriculture Curriculum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Available through the Extension office or online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Floriculture Level A is no longer available.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/shop4-h.org\/products\/floriculture-b\">Floriculture Level B<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4-H Floriculture curriculum series is full of hands-on activities that focus on growing and using flowers and plants. Each manual includes five major categories: planning, growing and caring for plants, exploring science, floral design, and career exploration.
