In the first quarter of 2022, researchers at Washington State University, USDA-Agriculture Research Service, and Oregon State University were awarded a grant to evaluate the impact that heat has on caneberries. This team coalesced after severe heat in 2021 impacted the Pacific Northwest caneberry growing region. The project utilizes horticultural and plant breeding expertise from this region to identify strategies to mitigate the impact that heat can have on these crops. We will be following this project over the next few years to share what researchers have found.
