Digging Deeper Saturdays 2025 – Pruning Blueberries

Saturday, March 1st, 2025

10:30 am to 12:00 pm

Research has shown that when blueberry plants are not pruned or are pruned too lightly, they become less productive. Join Clallam Master Gardeners Jeanette Stehr-Green and Audreen Williams to get the facts and learn about pruning blueberry bushes.

Jeanette will describe the typical growth pattern of a blueberry bush and outline a systematic approach to pruning as well as factors that affect blueberry pruning practices.

Jeanette and Audreen will demonstrate pruning techniques on blueberry bushes at 5th Street Community Garden and Lazy J Farm from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. They will also answer your questions about growing and pruning blueberries.

The pruning demonstrations will take place outside in rain or shine; participants should dress appropriately and be prepared to stand for 30 minutes or more.
