What is CLEAR?
CLEAR is a multi-year systems change process that supports the individual professional practice of classroom teachers and school staff. The model helps cultivate a culture and policies that support the integration of trauma-informed practices into the school environment. CLEAR aligns with more intensive services and empowers school professionals to support the needs of students and families based on building resources and capacity in support of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) structures.
What makes CLEAR different from other professional development?
CLEAR utilizes a distinct coaching methods to partner directly with staff around developing trauma informed environments conducive to learning. CLEAR professional development training sessions are not “stand alone” but rather an integrated approach to embedding trauma informed practices and concepts into your school and district culture over time.
Implementation At-A-Glance
- Monthly one-hour all-staff professional development training in which best practice trauma-informed concepts are introduced progressively.
- Regular coaching and planning meetings with leaders to identify and support practice shifts and policy changes that promote trauma-informed school climate improvement.
- Creation of a peer leadership group that works with school leadership and the CLEAR coach to monitor progress and address barriers to implementation as well as look at data to drive next steps and interventions.
- Voluntary coaching offered to all teachers and staff. These coaching sessions offer a personalized and confidential space to discuss classroom practices, individualization of instruction, and behavior management based on trauma-informed principles.
