Beef Pre-Show, Weigh-In & Judging Contest

March 21 @ 7:00 am 3:00 pm

The Beef Weigh-In and Pre-Show will be held on SATURDAY, MARCH 21st at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds. To sell a steer at the Kittitas County Fair, 4-H/FFA/Grange members are required to weigh and tag a steer (limit of two per member) at the Beef Weigh-In. Minimum weights must be met to show in the market steer classes at the Kittitas County Fair and go through the Livestock Sale (Minimum weight at Fair: Steers – 1150 lbs., Miniature – 650 lbs.)

  • 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM     WEIGH AND TAG STEERS
    • A growth implant and dewormer injection will be offered and available at no charge to the youth at the scale again this year.
  • 9:15 AM – 11:00 AM    BEEF JUDGING CONTEST – Feeder Steers, Heifers, Beef Parts, Oral Reasons
  • 12:00 PM – complete   SPRING MARKET CLASSES – Heifers, Mini-Beef, Market Steers (or one hour following the judging contest)

Showmanship classes will immediately follow market classes.

ORDER WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: Novice, Junior, Intermediate, Senior

Please note:

  • Generators are encouraged.  Half of Bloom Pavilion will be open to stall grooming chutes.
  • Bring a water bucket for your animals and some feed.
  • All stalls must be cleaned before leaving the show for the day, bring rakes and equipment to clean pens out before you leave.

Please check with Superintendents or 4-H Leaders/FFA/Grange Instructors to be excused from the fairgrounds for the day. 

IF YOU HAVE A CONFLICT:

Exhibitors who have a conflict with the March 21st  date are required to write a letter to: the Livestock Committee Chair, 901 E 7th Avenue, Suite 2, Ellensburg, WA 98926, asking to be excused from the Beef Pre-Showby March 17th at 5:00 pm. Letters can also be submitted via email to amy.alder@wsu.edu

The letter needs to be written by the 4-H/FFA/Grange member requesting the excuse, address the reason for not attending, and who will weigh the animal.The Livestock Committee will review these requests. Members must have another exhibitor weigh their animal(s) in their absence.
