Kittitas County Plant Sale

Sign reading "plant sale today" for the annual Master Gardener Plant Sale.

Each year, our Extension Master Gardeners put in thousands of volunteer hours to pull together a Plant Sale. The goal is to give you a good selection of high-quality plants at reasonable prices. The plant sale is managed by our foundation and is the most significant fundraiser of the year. Proceeds are plowed back into our educational outreach programs to reach more people in the community.

Time & Place

The Plant Sale takes place in May. Look for our flyers in March and April each year!

2026 Plant Sale

Saturday, May 16th, 8:00am-2:00pm

The plant sale is held at the Armory at 901 E. 7th Ave. Ellensburg, WA 98926. The entrance to the sale is in the rear of the Armory. Signage will be posted to help guide your way.

Come in the morning for the best selection.  Typically we will have the old favorites: tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, basil, herbs, peppers and squash as well as a unique variety of other veggies and flowers you may not find at your local stores. Bring a friend and help support the Master Gardeners of Kittitas County!

A “Pop-up Nursery”

The annual Master Gardener Plant Sale is a major undertaking by our volunteers. One of our Foundation’s key funding activities, it takes about eight months efforts to produce a plant sale that meets our standards. And yours. Read on for just a quick overview of the effort involved.

Broad plant selection, locally grown

Our plant sale is the product of many volunteer master gardeners, pulling together for several months in order to host a “Pop-up Nursery” one Saturday per year.

The process begins in the summer and fall with master gardeners starting or dividing native plants and perennials at home. Shortly after the new year, our volunteers are back at it, starting veggies from seed and timing our plantings so they will be the right size when the time for planting comes.

Our 2025 plant sale will be held May 17, 2025 and hosted by our Master Gardener Foundation of Kittitas County.  This is an important tool for us to defray the cost of running many of our free programs.

Pulling it all together

As we head into spring, Master Gardeners begin the process of assembling a “Pop-up Nursery” for just one weekend. This requires dozens of volunteers spending thousands of hours in training and set-up. Everything from building out and training on our cash registers, hauling and setting up displays, signage, parking assistance and much more. Master Gardener veterans train the interns so that the plant sale can carry on smoothly across the years.

The Team

Each year Master Gardener volunteers strive to create a sale where customers can find what plants they are looking for and easily understand the pricing.
